Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative comments from other people destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for the game of poker. He says that he's picking up skills every day and is very humble about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
