Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse comments from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an undying love for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
