Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player in the world by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental comments from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn't a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He says that he's picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
