Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the last game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a huge pot with quads against Negreanu's full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest enthusiasts around the world. While playing internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is broke, he has no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt.. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world could be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes omaha high and texas hold'em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in money games?
