Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

He started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn't a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He states that he is learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
